Getting back to school is not my favourite time of year as I love having the children around the house without the busy school schedules, but once they are back we work into the schedule quickly. I do love taking back to school photos though!
I few years ago I started taking a photo on the first day of school and the last day of school on the front step to show the difference in the children throughout their school year. They always mature quite a bit through the school year, but the biggest difference is their growth. I love the Bookworm digital kit with all of the school related embellishments, but what I really love is the colours as they are muted primary colours. Continue reading Back To The Books
As we prepare to kick-off another school year I came to the realization that I still need to scrapbook my daughter’s first day of school photos from last year! Once I pulled out the photos that I wanted to include I went through my papers to see which collection would coordinate best. To my surprise, Woodland Whimsy was the winner! With a mix of pinks, oranges, and greens it worked perfectly with the photos I had taken.
This was one of those layouts that came together magically. Once I pulled out the papers I wanted to use I took a peek at the embellishment pack and decided that it would be super cute to use the embellishment with a four on it (which was intended for monthly baby photos — but also works beautifully to highlight my daughter’s age in the photos!). There is also an embellishment that says, “Shine like the Stars” which I thought worked perfectly as a title for my layout.

How exciting!!! A collection for all of your school memories.
As you may remember, I am new to the scrapbooking part of papercrafting. I have a pile of my kids’ school memories that need to get into books. I am not overwhelmed by the process. I figure I will let the paper “speak” to me. That is exactly what this Bookworm Collection did to me. It spoke to me when picking a photo. My daughter spoke to me as well! When I showed her the picture that I decided on she said, “really Mom, you couldn’t have picked another picture that made me look less dorky?”.

It is so hard to believe that we are talking about sending the littles (or bigs in my case) back to school already. Where does the summer go?
Make sure you capture all of the special moments when you are sending them back to learn. Their grade, the books they like to read, their teacher, their shoe size, their favorite color, etc.
The Bookworm Collection is a fabulous pairing to any layout related to school.

Hello everybody! I am back with a layout I created using the Bookworm Designer Papers, embellishments and stickers. What a cute collection to scrapbook those school memories!
Every time my son comes home from school with a fun art project, I get excited. I love looking through his artwork and the one thing I can always count on while looking at his work, is that his little creatures are ALWAYS happy. This makes my heart happy. It just goes to show that he’s happy inside and out most days. And he’s so creative too.
I love that he enjoys simple things such as painting, drawing and coloring. He will spend hours at the kitchen table, making pictures for his classmates. He is thoughtful like that.

Do you keep bookmarks handy when you’re reading a book? My husband reads a lot and keeps plenty of bookmarks laying around. Me? I use whatever is handy. Torn pieces of paper, store receipts, post-it-notes …. even unused Kleenex tissues – anything flat enough to mark my space in whatever book I’m reading.
School kids could probably use a book mark or two to keep track of where they are in their textbooks. Here are a few easy peasy bookmarks to create for your student. Better yet, make it a fun project for the kids to create for themselves.

Pinterest is my never fail go to place when I’m looking for ideas for a new scrapbook layout.
Most often I browse Pinterest looking for inspiration or an idea I can use on my own project. This time though I had something specific in mind – a one photo, school themed layout.
I found quite a few layouts that fit that criteria using Pinterest search. All I had to do was choose which layout I wanted to use.
