1-2-3 Layout Featuring Achievements Paper Pack!

I’m back with another 1-2-3 Layout for you! If you are not familiar with this type of layout you’ll see that it uses 1 piece of double sided patterned paper, 2 pieces of cardstock (or scrapbook pages) and is made with just 3 simple cuts to create a lovely two page spread!

I was excited to use the new Achievements collection for this layout – it is so versatile! Even though one of the papers has text specific to graduation, the other black and white patterns can be used for so many different events. And the great thing is that it will work with any color. And although I used it to create an actual graduation themed page, it can be used and adapted for photos from almost any event you can imagine.

This month’s sketch has room for SEVEN! photos, including a spot to showcase a special grad (or school) portrait. Pick up the colors of the graduates’ gown in the title or accents, or use the gold and silver accents from the Achievements or Black & White Embellishments packs and you’ll have a rich look to highlight even the most formal of photos. (Note: I was so lucky to use these beautiful graduation photos taken by CM advisor Beth Thomander from Nova Scotia Canada for this layout!)

Here’s the 1-2-3 sketch for you to follow:

And here’s the Cutting Guide:

Here are the step by step images of how to create this spread:

Make your first cut in your double sided patterned paper at 2″. This will give you a 2″ x 12′ strip. Set aside.

TURN remaining piece 90 degrees and make your second cut at 7″ to give you one 7″ x 10″ piece and one 5″ x 10″ piece.

STACK these two pieces and line them up along one edge.

Now make your third cut through both pieces at 1/2″.

You will now have one 2″ x 12″ strip, one 6.5″ x 10″ piece, one 4.5 ” x 10″ piece and two 1/2″ x 10″ pieces. Flip over the 6.5″ x 10″ piece and the 4.5″ x 10″ piece.

Lay them out on your two scrapbook pages or base pieces of cardstock as shown in the layout sketch. You’ll see that the 2″ x 12′ strip will overlap the 4.5″ x 10″ piece by a little bit.

Place and adhere your photos. I didn’t have three horizontal 4 x 6 photos, so I left space to add one 4 x 6 decorative card from the Acheivement Slide-In Pack. (Note that I also matted one photo to highlight it, but I had to move it down slightly from the position indicated on the sketch because I ended up using a larger title than I had originally planned for! See…even I have to adapt my own sketches!)

To finish up the layout, I added a 4 x 6 decorative card and  wrote “Congratulations!” across the banner with the Black Dual-Tip Pen. I trimmed down another journaling card from the same Slide-In pack to a 4 x 4 size and filled in the journaling. For my title I chose two large die-cut words – “GRAD” and “2016” – from the Achievements Embellishments pack. Finally I added a few simple circle stickers that echoed the circle on the decorative card, and the cute little gold and silver metallic stars from the Achievements Stickers.

I love how fast these 1-2-3 layouts come together…simple choose paper that works with your photos, cut it according to the cutting guide, arrange and adhere the pieces! Try it…I hope you love it too!
